THE 2014 DAY OF GOLF – SALVER, BOWL AND LONGMARKER’S CUP
Players arrived on Tuesday 8 July from around 7.00am travelling from Penrith, Shelly Beach, Terrigal, Meriwether, Toronto and of course Everglades anticipating an exciting day on course, ready to compete in their respective divisions. All players were welcomed with a traditional women’s golf morning tea prior to hit off which was well received, thank you to those who contributed. The day was sparkling and our course was presented in excellent condition given it was the middle of winter, if you could handle the quick greens and two putt you were considered to have played well. Presentation in the front lounge was well attended with most of the 94 starters staying on to congratulate the winners of the day.
The Salver this year was taken to Penrith by Tracey Warne, Tracey was thrilled to win the Salver by a shot from Karen Myles who has won the award ‘just a few times’ and stated she would be back again next year to defend the title. Again an excited Penrith player, Karen Black, took home the Bowl by two shots from Jacqui Crawford. The Longmarker’s Cup was all Everglades with some very close scores, an elated Jill Fraser won the trophy by a shot from Merrill Mead both players scoring excellent stableford scores on a very big women’s Red course…….Congratulations to all the winners:

A HOLE IN ONE for Patsy Elliott, Congratulations… this was Patsy’s second and as she accepted her HIO pin from President Jan the smile covered her face. With the microphone in hand there was nothing stopping her, Patsy stated she was not going to show anyone how to get a hole in one on the 12th even though she had had hundreds of NTP on the hole whilst practicing..Good one Patsy!
Our sponsors for this day, Maz Avec Jas and Flowers by Marianne, better known as John and Marrianne Shirley, were unable to attend presentation although both President Jan and Captain Wendy enjoyed presenting the awards on their behalf. John and Marrianne’s shop is opposite Woy Woy railway station and they have a diverse range of products available not the least of which is The Hidden Courtyard Cafe at the rear of the store, a beautiful oasis to enjoy a peaceful lunch or just a cuppa with friends. If you are looking for gifts or flowers drop in and have a chat with the staff they will be happy to assist. Both Marrianne and John have sponsored the women’s golf section for many years and this event would not have been as well received without such a generous sponsorship, thank you Marrianne and John Shirley!
