After all the excitement of Championships and the Presentation lunch, this month we had the great pleasure of presenting a cheque for $4000 to our charity, The Shirley Shuttle, made up to that amount by the donation of $500 from the Country Club. Pam Warton accepted the cheque on behalf of the organisation, which was bought to our attention by one of our long standing members, Colleen Guy who has been using this service over many of the past months, for transportation to treatment centres and specialist appointments.
This month the Club Medals were won by Patsy Elliott in division 1 (77 c/b) followed hot on her heels by Heather Burrett. Division 2 saw a very excited Jan Weiley on the microphone after winning her first medal (71), with Marg Hockley as runner up. Susan Bourne was top of the leaderboard in 3rd Division (71),with her good mate Carmel Brown the next place getter. Also, this month we had a Par and 2B Par event, with Trish Melnik winning Division 1, Judy Andrews Division 2, and Lynette Magill Division 3. Irene Hyland and Jill Fraser won the 2B.
At the time of writing, we are up to the third round of the 2B Knockout, so good golfing to all participants.
The final day of the Interclub Matchplay had Everglades in with a chance to win the season, however this was not to be, and we were pipped at the post by Morisset , who also took out the Margin Shield. Congratulations to Morisset and also to all our women who competed so sportingly in their matches. Next year!
Next on our calendar is our Day of Golf on the 11th July, – the Everglades Salver, Bowl and Longmarkers Cup, sponsored by the House of Beauty at Woy Woy. Hopefully all your entries are in by now. Also, it’s now time for teams to be thinking about fabulous costumes for Xmas in July Mufti Day on July 27th – get sewing ladies!
